Should you lie about your age?

August 11, 2010 2 comments

There is a wide spread belief that there is age bias in the workplace, and that is probably true, but usually not to the degree most over 40 job seekers think.  If you think about why someone is going to hire you, it’s because they believe you are the solution to their problem.

That being the case, and you truly are the solution to their problem, then what does age have to do with it?  The unfortunate part of this issue is that most people cannot articulate their value or currency to a prospective employer, hence they then believe that they are being disqualified because of age.
